Job Summary

The purpose of the EHS Safety Coordinator is to provide leadership, mentoring, program management and technical assistance within CRL to improve their respective health and safety performance and compliance systems. This individual works principally with our Service Center’s Managing staff to deliver an employee safety culture of zero harm to cost-effectively reduce operational risks, protect fixed assets, and provide a safe work environment for all employees, customers and visitors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical direction to all CRL Service Center facilities in support of their efforts to implement effective health, safety and environmental programs.

  • Practices safe working techniques and enforce the EHS policies, guidelines and procedures as set out by the Company.

  • Assist with inspections, assessments, surveys and program evaluations to identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental rules and regulations.

  • Assist in the investigation of incidents, employee injuries, near misses and/or situations where safety procedures were not followed and complete the appropriate reports and/or other paperwork necessary.

  • Assist with the follow up after an incident or near miss situation to ensure the appropriate corrective actions have been implemented to prevent recurrence of a similar situation.

  • Perform administrative duties related to department records and files.

  • Assist with completing monthly CRH/OBE Safety Reporting in a timely manner.

  • Assist with Workers’ Compensation recordkeeping to include Covid-19 administrative duties

  • Provide support and assistance in the preparation, compilation and distribution of safety reports as needed.

  • Regularly communicate with the Human Resources Department regarding updates or corrections of company policies, Workers’ Compensation claims and/or the search and selection of light duty positions for employees on restrictive duty because of a current Workers’ Compensation claim.

  • Assist the EHS Department with administrative functions, such as setting up meetings with various individuals, departments and/or third parties.

  • Analyze, plan, review and act on events occurring within the assigned area of responsibility to assure improvements plans are being implemented and safety and health targets are being achieved.

  • Regular and predictable attendance safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or related field (Safety degree preferred)

  • 0-1+ year experience

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and Power Point

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and have problem-solving and reasoning skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and conduct yourself professionally, with excellent written and verbal communications

  • Utilizes strong time management and organizational skills to successfully multi-task

  • Maintain business poise and professionalism under stressful situations

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time throughout the company when needed.

  • A valid driver license
