We are looking for a Cytotechnologist, Sign-On Bonus Eligible (40 hours per week) in our Melbourne, FL location.

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Cytotechnologists' responsibilities are associated with the microscopic evaluation of cellular material, gynecologic (GYN) under the direction of the Cytology Supervisor, Manager, Director and Medical Director. Work skills include the ability to evaluate cellular material using established morphologic criteria and to enter a diagnosis into the Cytology LIS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains standards in routine testing
  
  


• Communicates any reporting or technical problems with supervisor or manager.
  
  


• Ensure accuracy of reporting by reviewing results before releasing
  
  


• Performs & documents required maintenance on equipment.


• Review their own pending each day.


• Examine cytology specimens for the presence of abnormal cellular changes and pathogens.


• Can read and interpret a gynecologic pap smear by examining cytology specimens for the presence of abnormal cellular changes and pathogens.
  
  


• Performs duties in an independent manner.
  
  


• Understands all laboratory policies & procedures.
  
  


• Can identify uses for PPE as required.
  
  


• Can identify, at least one location of a fire extinguisher.
  
  


• Documents and communicates changes in workload.


• Enter diagnostic interpretation into Cytology LIS verify diagnosis and triage QC and abnormal cases using department protocol.


• Maintain workload records of slides screened/hours worked per 24 hour period.
  
  


• Perform daily microscope maintenance.


• Help maintain department facilities in neat and professional order.
  
  


• Participate in a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education and provide supporting documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science, plus one year cytology technical training from a CAAHEP accredited school.
  
  


• Cytotechnologists are certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or registry eligible within the first year of employment with the company.
  
  


• Present Proficiency Test Scores
  
  


• Ability to evaluate cellular material using established morphologic criteria.

Work Environment:

• Medium work of lifting up to 50 pounds and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.


• Responsible for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects.
