What you will do


  • Serves as technical lead within Power Electronics Department that is responsible to design, test, and maintain power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls’ chiller applications.

  • Determines the best techniques, procedures and/or theories as they apply to the development of power electronics products and systems. 

  • Creates compliance procedures for the development of electrical/electronic circuitry designs. 

  • Defines and interprets design specifications; designs electrical/electronic circuitry to meet specified requirements; and analyzes product design requirements and recommends solutions. 

  • Prepares and coordinates the release of documentation to support component design and manufacturing. 

  • Participates in all aspects of preliminary design and systems architecture and conducts analysis of the cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new implementations of application software. 

  • Conducts feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major modifications of existing systems. 

  • Works with other engineers, designers, and technicians on specific work assignments.

  • Forecasts and schedules work activities and defines processes for repetitive tasks.

  • Acts as the technical lead for troubleshooting field and factory issues on the range of power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls’ chillers.

  • Travels to visit customers, Johnson Controls’ factories, vendors, and/or professional conferences as business needs

What we look for

Required


  • Bachelor’s degree on Electrical Engineering with specialization on Power Electronics

  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience in the field of Power Electronics.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Johnson Controls.

Preferred


  • Advanced degree with focus in Power Electronics

  • Strong experience on power electronics controls

  • Strong experience on FPGA and DSP

  • Strong experience on advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber
