Job Description

KIOXIA America Inc is looking for a Director of Firmware Engineering.The Director will lead the development team in Folsom, CAand participate in a global operation to develop new SSD products.The position is to directly manage 10 individual contributors, and to grow the team by 5-10 contributors over time. The team participates in a multi-site development effort, and focuses on Performance tuning of the product datapath, as well as providing a firmware interface to the Validation team.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SSD development and getting SSD products to the market, particularly into the Data Center. Also important is being effective within a multi-site environment, and an enthusiasm for being part of a diverse team working together effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Develop NVMe products for the Data Center market segment


• Manage a Firmware Team in Folsom CA, and coordinate with the global organization


• Cooperate with Validation and other partner organizations to efficiently bring new products to market

Skills:

• Mastery of firmware development processes, including code quality, multi-target structures, performance strategies, and silicon development support


• Successful mentoring and developing junior and mid-career engineers


• Storage experience with SSD development, including shipping product

Requirements:

• 15+ years of strong hands-on experience in firmware and software products including design, development, hardware validation and debugging


• 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing global engineering teams


• Strong knowledge of C / C++


• 5+ years of experience of PCIe / NVMe and other SSD development


• Familiarity with storage technologies, NAND management & Caching software


• Strong analytical and debugging skills

Education

• BS/MS(Preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar degree
