JOB PURPOSE


Responsible for providing the day-to-day leadership and management for a pork processing facility fabricating over 4.5 million pounds of product daily. Supervises and coordinates the line activities and tasks of more than 20 team members responsible for the cut and conversion operations.The supervisor is responsible for safety of the team, improving performance, productivity, efficiency of the shift by adhering to all standards to meet the needs of operations


RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS



  • Provide the day-to-day leadership and management by assigning, directing and monitoring work performance of the team.

  • Ensure all new hires and existing employees are trained and qualified to perform the tasks of each position on the line

  • Responsible for ensuring all team members can perform their jobs safely and adhere to all policies relating to workplace safety.

  • Communicate daily expectations, direction, instructions and provide ongoing feedback to employees to achieve daily production goals and objectives

  • Communicate any changes in policies or procedures as needed.

  • Develop collaborative working relationship with all departments in the plant.

  • Complete all reports accurately and timely.

  • Ensures department and shift comply with all regulations and policies regarding HACCP programs, food safety programs and quality.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures, accident investigation analysis, conduct departmental safety meetings, and utilize equipment provided for employee protection.

  • Understands the collective bargaining agreement; creates and maintains a positive working relationship with the local union

  • Responsible for ensuring team members clock in/out for each shift worked. Verify and approve all timekeeping entries are accurate and up to date.

  • May be required to work long hours and weekends.

REQUIREMENTS



  • College degree and/or two or more years of supervisory experience with protein or similar processing facility preferred

  • At minimum two years food production and/or processing, quality control, HACCP or similar experience

  • Bi-lingual preferred but not required

  • Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with team members at all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies

  • Experience with Kronos, ADP eTime, Carlisle systems preferred but not required
