The Team:
The Mattel Global Consumer Products Design team focuses on delivering pitches, style guides, and creative direction that informs licensed product development around the world for Mattel brands.

The Opportunity:
The Global CP Softlines Designer is responsible for global apparel & accessory creative direction for Mattel Brands. In addition to providing input in the creative development of style guide assets, this role is also responsible for creative direction for priority global licensees. This includes partnering with regional business leads on strategy, working with key licensees on the creative direction for the product line, and the Product Approval team on ensuring the creative direction is executed in final product submissions. This role also needs to partner with the Mattel Toy creative teams to ensure a cohesive creative vision across all touchpoints. The ideal candidate will possess proven fashion design experience and the ability to work on complex products as well as create new concepts.

What Your Impact Will Be


  • Develop global apparel & accessories toolkits and inspiration based on brand vision

  • Analyze current and emerging fashion and consumer trends. Integrate into current design projects

  • Provide creative strategic direction and support to priority global licensees/programs

  • Partner with Product approval team on priority licensee line execution

  • Partner with vertical creative teams on key category/program development to ensure creative consistency

  • Provide feedback on global asset development to ensure they work for all categories

  • Participate in team brainstorm sessions (as well as cross-functional sessions) for new product development and innovation.


What We're Looking For:
Design Requirements:


  • BS/BA degree in Design

  • 5-8 Years professional experience (F level)


  • Strong fashion design or licensing experience

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving

* Advanced skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Power point


  • Strong knowledge of colors, materials and finishes

  • Drawing and sketching to communicate ideas

  • Strong knowledge of material and manufacturing process

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as presentation skills required

  • Ability to project manage

  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
