We are seeking a person with a CDL license and mechanic experience to help in our equipment shop located in Huntsville, where we rent out construction equipment to ourselves and other businesses.


Position Description: Responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and servicing vehicles and heavy equipment.


Reports to: Shop Foreman, Shop Manager, and Trades Manager

Essential Duties& Responsibilities:



  • Maintains equipment and fleet for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts and components, and repairing body damage

  • Maintains vehicle functionality by noting any operator complaints or documented malfunctions and addressing those needs appropriately and accurately.

  • Verifies vehicle serviceability and safety by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.

  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting as needed or requested.

  • Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs accurately.

  • Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.

  • Conforms to safety and inspection requirements

  • Make deliveries of materials or equipment as necessary

  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, backhoe, skidsteer, excavator, compactors, aerial lifts, and construction hoist

  • Assist with the overall site safety and quality programs as required and ensuring Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security

  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees

  • Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.

  • Qualifications:


    • Candidate should have at least three (3) years of verifiable warehouse or automotive shop experience

    • Must be able to comprehend safety instructions and signage, communicate effectively in emergency situations and understand written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers

    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

    • Must have good mechanical aptitude, millwright/ mechanic experience, good working knowledge of and experience with hand powered tools.

    • Some knowledge of hydraulics, oxy/acetylene, stick welding and electricity is desired.

    • Valid Driver's License Required

    • Valid CDL License Required- Class A w/ brakes endorsement strongly preferred
