Job Summary


The Krishnaswamy Lab is seeking to fill afull-time research tech position. The Krishnaswamy Labstudies molecular mechanisms of blood coagulation- alsoinvestigates how the proteins of blood coagulation interact with each other and membranes to yield a regulated clotting response to vascular injury or an unregulated response in thrombotic or bleeding disease.



A regulated blood coagulation response to vascular injury is essential for life. Excessive bleeding is associated with a range of genetic or acquired conditions that impair the clotting response. Thrombotic diseases result from an exuberant or dysregulated clotting. Together, diseases associated with excessive clotting or bleeding represent one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in the developed world.

Job Responsibilities



  • Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor

  • Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed

  • Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy

  • Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks

  • Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment

  • Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures

  • Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment

  • Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment

  • Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures

  • Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques

  • Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner

  • Conducts literary searches as directed


Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations


None

Required Education and Experience


Required Education: Associates Degree

Required Experience: Nine (9) months of laboratory experience


Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic


Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Experience:


  • Eighteen (18) months of laboratory experience

  • Related internship experience.


Additional Technical Requirements
