About the role


In order to help Cochlear continue to grow and service our customers, we are recruiting for a Senior Accountant in our Americas head office based in Lone Tree, CO.


To be successful in this role you'll be able to fully understand revenue and COGS and can provide analysis on all income statement accounts rolling into gross margin. You'll work collaboratively with a variety of subject matter experts including the Financial Planning and Analysis team, Customer Service, Logistics, and other global counterparts to assist in the completion of key tasks and projects. This technical role is responsible for the reconciliation and reporting of all sales and COGS working closely with the Finance and Sales Operations teams to ensure the reporting is accurately presented.


Key Responsibilities



  • Account for and reconciles all sales, COGS (and related balance sheet accounts whose activity impact gross margin) rolling up to the gross margin line of the P&L including multiple revenue streams, general COGS, and warranty expense.

  • Facilitate revenue recognition for right of return as well as revenue recognition as it relates to new product launches and programs

  • Responsible for understanding and executing updates in accounting guidance with respect to gross margin related accounts.

  • Maintain close working relationships with customer service, marketing, sales operations, the field sales team and corporate finance with respect to all areas of gross margin.

  • Prepare sales and COGS reports, including a multi-dimensional sales and COGS tool, as well as a breakout of warranty and other key business areas.

  • Assist in preparing consolidation financial pack including all COGS and Sales related schedules along with explanation of variances.

  • Meet all deadlines related to reporting outside of the department and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the reporting.

  • Produce ad-hoc and as needed or requested reports on these areas to help customer service, marketing, sales operations, and the field drive business and understand results.


Key Requirements


To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to meet and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in your application and at interview:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years progressive accounting experience - OR -

  • Master's degree with two or more years of progressive public accounting experience, including financial analysis.

  • Achieved knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Basic knowledge of computer technology in its application to financial accounting and control.

  • Experience with revenue recognition, sales reporting, and COGS accounting

Schedule:


Regular business hours. In order to complete reporting requirements, there will be some evening and weekend hours required to ensure all deadlines related to financial reporting are met.


In addition to the opportunity to develop your knowledge and grow professionally, we offer competitive wages and benefits. The Target Salary Range for this role is $75,000-$83,000, as well as a bonus of 4% of base salary.
