Surgical Technologist II (operating room scrub technician) sets up sterile field, gathers supplies for surgical cases, based on knowledge of instruments and equipment to be used. Passes instruments to surgeons during surgery. Performs count procedures per policy during surgical cases. Serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after orientation period. Functions under the direct supervision of an RN circulator.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C); or Certified Operating Room and Surgical Technician (CORST) certification required. CST is the preferred certification.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current AHA,BLS,HCP Certification.
CurrentCST; TS-C or CORST required.
Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Surgical Technologist.
Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or a military training program or Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
Education/training PREFERRED:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
