Overview

TEC is looking for a Network Engineer that possesses expert problem-solving, analytical, design and communication skills, in addition to in-depth technical knowledge of systems hardware and software at our corporate office in Portland. The Network Engineer is considered the subject matter expert for all aspects of WAN/LAN network design, development, implementation, and support of the enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

    Design, develop, maintain, and support WAN/LAN infrastructure, hardware, and system components.
  • Perform high-level root cause analysis for service interruption recovery.

  • Create preventive measures for potential outages to systems, networks, and applications.

  • Analyze complex business problems and implement automated systems to solve them.

  • Maintain network documentation to support a mature IT organization.

  • Partner with Systems Engineer and Analyst to ensure maximum system performances and availability.

  • Optimize network infrastructure for highest availability of connectivity to systems and data security.

  • Monitor systems and networks using tools and automated tasks and resolve related outages.

  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, and management of new technologies.

  • Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes.

  • Consult with IT Management and business leaders on new business systems and software packages.

  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; and performing upgrades for network optimization.

  • Work a modified schedule as needed to perform after hour maintenance or deployments of new software or hardware.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of IT Network Engineering experience in advanced technical environment, preferably within a company with 3,000+ employees.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to all levels of staff and management.

  • Expert experience in a distributed WAN/LAN environment.

  • Five years of experience with Routers, Firewalls and Layer 3 Switching technologies.

  • Network architecture design skills including diagramming complex networks.

  • In-depth understanding of networking - routing, subnets, DHCP, UDP, TCP, IP and VLANs.

  • Ability to control multiple projects and priorities with careful time management and little supervision.

  • Understanding of and experience with Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, NTFS permissions, DNS, OS security, and systems patching, in a virtualized environment.

  • Project planning, data center design, CCNP or similar skills preferred.
