Job Description:

Ricoh Quality Development Engineering (QDE) is looking for an engineer with strong electro-mechanical design validation skills. In addition to testing very complex continuous feed printing systems, candidate position requires a working knowledge of automation tools (Python, Java, MatLab, etc.) to facilitate automation of testing, data collection, analysis, and reporting. QDE is implementing a non-traditional initiative that involves shifting quality activities left in the development schedule rather than wait to be involved at the end of development. This initiative builds quality into the product early so that final confirmation before releasing is a simpler and more efficient task which ultimately ensures greater customer satisfaction.

The roles and responsibilities of this position extend beyond that of the traditional Test Engineer. Participation in development activities, including actual design and development of hardware and software on functional components of the product and participation in Engineering Verification Test (EVT) is a large part of this job. Ricoh is cultivating a tight collaborative partnership between the Development organization and QDE which involves working side by side through the product development cycle.

Job Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Development Engineers to review designs participate in development of functions features.

  • Participate in creating EVT plans and executing test cases.

  • Identify issues and participate in implementing solutions to resolve the issues.

  • Create and execute Design Verification Test (DVT) plans.

  • Track test execution progress and document issues using the TestRail and Redmine tools.

  • Keep management and project management informed about risks encountered and mitigation plans to reduce the risks.

  • Coordinate with other users of the systems to ensure time on the machines is adequate to meet schedules.

  • Understand the design specifications of the systems and the way customers will be using them.

  • Provide input to project schedules based on estimates of test scope and duration.

Required Skill:

  • 3- 5 years Electro-mechanical development and qualification experience.

  • 3+ years Quality Assurance experience in an R&D environment.

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral).

  • Experience working with systems that process complex workflows.

  • Data analysis experience and understanding of statistical methods.

  • SW coding proficiency using Python, Java, MatLab or other similar tools.

  • Experience automating complex processes.

  • Ability to understand how interrelated subsystems work together withing a complex system.

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of digital production printing concepts and technologies.

  • Understanding of printed image quality attributes and metrics.

  • Experience using Redmine, TestRail, Sharepoint, and other similar collaboration tool.

  • Work experience using Waterfall and/or Agile development methodologies.


  • B.S. in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree

Compensation Range $70,000 - $85,000

Position is bonus eligible, 6% STI
