JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Mold Maker

Location: Union City, CA

Reports to: Tool Room Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Prepare molds for use in production by maintaining, repairing, and constructing molds, fixtures and other relevant machining and tooling related tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop from drawings an accurate close-tolerance cavity core or plastic mold component to meet customer specifications

  • Determine methods of manufacture, parts list, electrodes, and machines/tools to be used to manufacture new molds

  • Prepare molds for heat treating, finish grinding, fitting, polishing, etc.

  • Repair molds and tools

  • Provide monthly maintenance on long-run molds

  • Make fixtures, tracks, & vision systems for mold presses

  • Troubleshoot and debug molding problem

  • Maintain machines used for building and repairing molds

  • Maintains cleanliness of work areas.

  • Complies with ISO policies and procedures.

  • Complies with all safety procedures and regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • 7+ years of mold making or equivalent experience

  • Able to read engineering drawings

  • Able to use various software applications including CAD, Mastercam, and Solidworks or simlar

  • Able to use measurement equipment

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • Able to run all tool room equipment and CNC equipment, EDM, welding equipment, lathes, mills, etc.
