JOB OVERVIEW:

This position verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments by performing the following duties in a quality way, supporting that Ortho is a quality driven corporation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with purchasing to rectify damages and shortages


• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming or outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.


• Inputs receiving data into Macola system for product received


• Delivers Items to other departments when required. Stocks product in proper locations in warehouse.


• Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers. Seals containers as needed. Processes shipments holding product shipping to distribution center uses cardboard pads. Edge proctors, pallet cones and shrink wrap to ensure product arrives in sellable condition


• Processes shipments using computer, scale, and printer. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies


• Inputs item numbers in container into Macola system to create transfer.


• Verifies part numbers and quantities returned by customer match RMAs before delivering to Quality Department


• Performs 1st, 2nd, and 3rd counts if necessary.


• Operates forklift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from receiving to stocking, or another work area.


• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required

SKILL:

Apply acquired job skills and company policy and procedures to complete assigned tasks.

COMPLEXITY:

Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognize the need to collaborate with team for occasional deviation from accepted practice.

SUPERVISION:

Work under close supervision and follow standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Sometimes receive detailed instruction from supervisor to accomplish assigned tasks.

Qualifications

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

Typically 1 or more years of related experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Typically High School education, vocational training and/or on-the-job training.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Must be able to type 20 words per minute


• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates and percentages.


• Familiarity with ISO 13485 certification is a plus

• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.


• Performing duties in a professional way, supporting Ortho Organizers' Quality Policy. Must understand, follow and comply withregulatory requirements as applicable to various processes. An understanding of FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR 820) and ISO Standards (ISO 13485) is required.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Warehouse environment

• Ability to engage in physical activities and manual labor, as required, including but not limited to: prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling and bending


• Must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds


• May encounter various environmental conditions such as hot and cool temperatures, hazardous items, noise, and dust
