  New employees who join our company as Forklift Operators will start through a 75 day Temp to Hire process. Starting out employment will be through a staffing agency and after a successful 75 day performance review employees will be considered for converting to Full Time Sonoco.

  Temp To Hire Pay rate: $15.50

  
  

  Full Time Pay Rate: $16.00 (Increased $.50 once full time Sonoco)

  
  
  
  

  Shift: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Shift. Shift differentials for 2nd Shift is $.25/Hr, and 3rd shift is $.34/Hr

  
  
  
  

  Summary:

  
  

  These roles perform Forklift Operator duties of industrial equipment in a Wood Reel manufacturing plant. Forklift Operators are responsible for working within a team to Unload, and Load lumber and other raw materials to support the running manufacturing equipment. Tasks within these roles can include but are not limited to unloading trucks, transporting raw material to processing equipment, staging cut material, loading manufacturing lines, transporting WIP, staging finished goods, and loading finished product. These roles will have responsibility to perform to quality and safety standards while meeting production goals. Forklift operating is done both outside and inside, on concrete or gravel surfaces.   Standard Qualifications:

  
  
  
  
  • Previous Forklift Operator experience is required
  
  
  • Demonstrated longevity at previous location of employment
  
  
  • Be able to understand quality specifications and supply lumber to expected standards
  
  
  • Be able to prioritize and supply multiple pieces of equipment
  
  
  • Perform basic Operator Maintenance functions including Cleaning, Inspection, and 5S
  
  
  • Motivated to achieve performance goals
  
  
  • Basic understanding of root cause analysis
  
  
  • Ability to work in plant environment (non-climate control: heat/cold, dust, etc.)
  
  
  • Availability for shift work (8 or 10 hours as determined) and Over Time as needed.
