Job Description

Summary

The Director, Global Engineering and EHS will be responsible for supporting the overall strategy by articulating and tracking the capital engineering portfolio, providing project execution metrics and reporting whilst implementing the overall capital engineering program. Develop and implement an EHS strategy and systems for all Mallinckrodt Branded platform that is compliant to the current Environmental, Safety and Health and the requirements of other governmental regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions


  • Manage the Mallinckrodt Capital program.

  • Provide engineering expertise to the internal manufacturing network ensuring best engineering practices are undertaken.

  • Develop capital expenditure management tools and metrics.

  • Represent global operations for property risk management activities.

  • Support the development of strategic plans for all internal manufacturing plants.

  • Engage a network for external vendors to provide engineering expertise when required.

  • Develop a strategic plan outlining the capital expenditure requirements for Mallinckrodt.

  • Engage business stakeholders to identify their engineering support requirements.

  • Develop and implement an EHS Strategy that supports the Risk Profile for Mallinckrodt.

  • Develop and implement an EHS Business Partner structure to support the needs of all Mallinckrodt stakeholders.

  • Establish measures that monitor key elements related to EHS goal attainment.

  • Execute strategic EHS direction; determine key strategic plan elements and develop goals and objectives.

  • Apply appropriate tools and assessments during equipment and product design, development, and manufacturing. Assure that functional units understand and incorporate EHS system activities in all levels.

  • Oversee compliance. Identify, manage, and eliminate EHS systems-related compliance issues. Interact with national, state, and local authorities, where appropriate.

  • Lead and report on progress toward the development and implementation of prevention-based EHS management initiatives for manufacturing and administrative processes.

  • Develop processes, systems, and approaches to support managing the risk profile of Mallinckrodt through the tactical engagement of the EHS Business Partner structure.

Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills:


  • BS/BA in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, EHS or Chemistry; advanced degree desirable.

  • 10-15 year's experience in a healthcare, preferably in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization.

  • Capital engineering management experience is required.

  • In-depth experience in the application of EHS systems supporting pharmaceutical organisations.

  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written.

  • Ability to lead and direct multisite diverse teams

  • Proficient use of MS office products.

  • Some travel (30%) may be required.

Organizational Relationship/Scope:

This position interfaces with all business aspects such as Global Operations and Quality, Science and Technology and Commercial teams. There are also significant relationships with various levels of management.

Directly reporting to this role will four EHS Managers who will be functional/geographical business partners to key stakeholders.
