Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive Engineering support to Proterra’s Greenville Site Drivetrain Engineering Manager and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful integration and validation of electric drivetrain systems into transit bus and Proterra Powered vehicles. This position will be responsible for ensuring the successful integration and validation of electric drivetrain systems into different vehicle platforms.

About the Role – You will:

• Develop integration requirements; perform application reviews for new drivetrain integrations


• Develop and manage vehicle level performance requirements that satisfy customer and regulatory requirements related to the drivetrain system


• Develop and support execution of vehicle level test plans related to drivetrain functionality


• Interface with customers to gather direct feedback regarding drivetrain system performance


• Analyze current and future drivetrain performance in application through the use of simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink


• Analyze field data to better understand use cases of drivetrain; as well as root cause issues


• Work cross-functionally with the other engineering groups to drive high level performance requirements into system design


• Occasionally provide onsite support for delivered products


• Experience in data acquisition tools such as Canalyzer, INCA, PiSnoop, ATI Vision, etc.

• This position will be part of the Greenville based Engineering team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations in Greenville, SC.

Your Experience Includes:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Software Engineering Required or equivalent experience


• Advanced Engineering Degree a plus


• 4+ years of engineering experience in the industrial, automotive or transportation industries. HEV or EV experience is a plus


• Working knowledge of hybrid or EV drivetrain systems such as power electronics, traction motors, transmissions, J1939 and battery systems


• Working knowledge of systems integration and systems validation


• Experience using MATLAB/Simulink, other languages a plus


• Working knowledge of requirements definition and management

You might also have:

• HEV or EV experience.


• Advanced Engineering Degree.


• Extensive experience and every day application using MATLAB/Simulink or other languages.
