Job Description:

Arcadis is currently seeking an Environmental Inspector to support environmental inspection efforts for a natural gas construction project in Elko, NV. This part-time position will require strict adherence to health and safety procedures, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and a passion for high quality workmanship. This initial job will be part time and will be staffed out of Elko, NV but the successful candidate may have opportunities for career growth.

Primary responsibilities include:


  • Performing stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and environmental inspections approximately one time per week - 2 to 6 hours per inspection - from April through September near Elko, NV
  • Inspections will consist of examining stormwater protection control BMPs and confirming they meet the requirements defined in the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
  • Documenting inspections - identify deficiencies - report to site contractor and Project Manager.
  • Conducting field reviews and site visits with other technical specialists, engineers, and construction personnel
  • Maintaining electronic file systems and record keeping using SharePoint and other cloud-based platforms #LI-CA1

Key attributes include:

  • Ability to communicate with construction contractor to describe deficiencies and how to get back into compliance in a collaborative, non-confrontational way
  • Previous experience on construction projects, including demonstrable experience and understanding of basic construction techniques
  • Prior experience with SWPPP, BMP, and erosion controls, including overseeing installation, maintenance, and removal of erosion and sediment control measures
  • Knowledge of safety procedures while working around heavy equipment
  • Experience with authoring daily inspection reports, conducting field audits with photo documentation, and overseeing contractor spill response
  • Located within two hours of Elko, NV

      Required Qualifications:

      • 2 years of experience in the environmental/construction field

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Knowledge of pipeline construction techniques, including wetland crossings, stream crossings, agricultural lands, residential construction, cultural resources, and erosion and sediment control design and implementation
      • Previous experience in natural gas pipeline projects including overseeing contractor implementation of environmental conditions and mitigation measures as set forth in permits, plans and procedures, the FERC Certificate, and all other permits, clearances, or other authorizing documents
      • Previous experience with permitting requirements for linear utility infrastructure

      In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rules: Arcadis offers benefits for full time positions. Full time positions also come with annual PTO days and at certain levels a bonus program may apply. The Salary range for this role is $41,000-$61,000 for Colorado based positions only. Other locations will vary in salary range.
