At FLIR in G ainesville,we design and manufacture high quality drones to carry the best sensors into the toughest environments. Job Summary:

As a Machinist you will be tasked with the operation of both CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment to assist in the machining of both internal production parts and outsourced machine parts. This job will require you to be proficient with CNC program writing, 3D modeling and manual machining.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operating CNC Mill


• Write all CNC programs for the Machining Department


• Operating manual mill and lathe


• Create jigs and fixtures for both Engineering and Production Departments


• Operating and maintaining all shop equipment


• Maintain a clean and organized shop

Job Qualifications:

• Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.


• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with CNC machines, manual mills and lathes


• Experience operating mill, lathes, grinders and cutting tools


• Experience calculating dimensions and/or tolerance using micrometers and vernier calipers


• Experience working with aluminum, steel and plastics


• Able to study and absorb information presented on blueprints, drawings and/or assembly files


• Able to monitor and optimize individual part run time


• Able to align and maintain cutting tools and equipment


• Able to take a design on paper through production and maintain project requirements


• Experience working with super alloys


• Experience with G Code, CAM software and 3D modeling software (Fusion360 preferred)


• Able to design fixtures and tooling needed for custom machining projects


• Able to maintain and repair machine shop equipment
