Position Summary:

The Business Analytics Advisor position within the Provider Analytics team is an opportunity to provide leadership on provider analytics strategy to support our contracting stakeholders and provide actionable insights and analytics. This role will work with an innovative team on setting and executing the vision for how provider analytics can lead Cigna-Government Business to achieving our goals of developing a suite of provider focused analytics for stakeholders.

Reporting to the Business Analytics Senior Manager, this position will coordinate with cross functional teams to develop and execute key deliverables across the government business financial organization. This position will blend creativity, analytical and technical competencies, relentless problem solving, and business acumen to deliver solutions to our business partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide expert content/professional leadership on complex provider analytics assignments/projects.

  • Exercise considerable creativity, foresight and judgment in conceiving and delivering initiatives.

  • Focus on providing thought leadership within provider analytics team but work on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business.

  • Leverage visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) to ensure provider analytics strategy is implemented.

  • Perform data validation analysis including, high level data quality/audit checks, ensuring process/logic is appropriately documented and can be understood by other analysts.

  • Analyze results and present data in a consumable method using high-level overview, major takeaways, major questions, and next steps.

  • Exhibit full understanding of underlying data and leverage data in an appropriate way (correct sources, clear assumptions, approved by business, best practices).

  • Partner with others on the Government Business Segment Analytics team to continuously improve department procedures, such as data management processes and new technology solutions.

  • Take project from beginning to end by managing variable tasks, stakeholder engagement and data review with limited supervision to meet targeted timelines.

  • Maintain analytics skillset through understanding new technologies, automation techniques, and the ability to execute and apply new skills to day-to-day work.

  • Develop analytic solutions that meet the basic needs of the business.

  • Ensure analytic approach and results are clearly understood by business partners.

  • Participation in activities outside of day to day role (committees, volunteering, etc.)

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in the fields of Finance, Health Informatics, Accounting, Public Health, Economics, Actuarial Science, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 3 years' industry experience solving business problems through the application of analytic approaches.

  • Required experience in health insurance payer analytics using healthcare data (claims, provider, membership enrollment); knowledge of Medicare Prospective Payment System (PPS) methodologies a plus.

  • Experience with ETL concepts; combining multiple data sources, data validation, using automated applications.

  • Business finance foundation in payer analytics, such as, but not limited to: IBNR modeling, CMS Revenue, accrual development, capitation calculations, percent of premium calculations, execution of many types of payer incentives (FFS with Link to Quality, Shared Savings, Upside and Downside risk calculations, population-based payments, condition specific payments, etc.).

  • Experience using CMS and healthplan data to calculate common industry KPI's such as PMPM's, Per K metrics (ADK, EDK), MLR, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience navigating relational databases and extracting data using SQL.

  • Experience organizing best practices for automated workflow development, ensuring consistency in documentation & coding style across a team to help enable portability of models among analysts.

  • Previous work experience applying a combination of analytical, technical and business acumen.

  • Demonstrated experience in challenging problems and driving outstanding results.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in complex matrix organizations and agile teams.

  • Experience blending creativity, relentless problem-solving, and business acumen.

  • Absolute requirement to work well with team and others remotely through effective communication, time management and transparency of work

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills to work with various matrix partners, including but not limited to actuarial, medical economics, finance, accounting, and IT.

  • Experience in Teradata

  • Experience in Tableau

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
