About Our Team:

We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, enthusiastic and innovative Application Support Engineer with an hands-on application support development background who truly enjoys supporting, maintaining and developing elegant solutions and data fixes based on existing well-stablished Java-based systems, and embraces the transitioning to our new micro-service architecture. This application support engineer will be responsible for supporting multiple applications utilized by PAR North America agents and partners.

This role includes reviewing and prioritizing requests; troubleshooting issues within the code and database and identifying the root cause of the issue; analyze the risks and relationships between functional groups of the systems while working on code and data patches; creating a code or SQL patch, testing the changes, and uploading the patch into the test environment for the Quality Assurance team. Communication with Business Owners, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Engineers, and System Administrators is often required.

What You Will Be Doing:


  • You will be on a tier 2 support team analyzing and troubleshooting the issues reported by Enterprise Operation Center and internal customers.


  • You will maintain, repair, patch and improve real-time applications that are efficient, highly available, reliable, scalable, maintainable, extensible, and testable.


  • You will be constantly learning and growing with other team members to help PAR transform the software development organization into world class status


  • You will communicate with business users and development team members to clarify requirements


  • You will highlight any potential risks to appropriate personnel and seek inputs to resolve issues.


  • You will be working in a stable business environment with strong organizational support.


  • You will be supported by a 24/7/365 NOC and highly-skilled operations team.


  • Some of the tech being used thus far includes Linux, Java, Spring, Oracle, JBOSS, Apache, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Lambda & Kinesis, Angular and Node.js.


What you bring:


  • Passion for serving and understanding business partner needs and functions, taking an interest in using technology to improve the business workflow and experience


  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.


  • Solid communication and presentation skills.


  • Strong accountability and ownership.


  • 3+ years of experience in Application/Software production support.


  • Experience in coding or scripting in PL/SQL, Java, C#, Python, or other programming languages.


  • Experience in supporting development teams and environment stacks having modern and legacy components.


  • Understanding of compliance and quality standards required to operate a business.


  • Experience with release management or continuous integration/continuous delivery using Jenkins or Azure DevOps.


  • Support continuous improvements initiatives and actively identify bottlenecks and ways to improve engineering practices and development process.


  • Experience in report writing and systems analysis to help the business be successful.


Other Skills & Experience that will help you:


  • Have demonstrated communication skills to interact with all levels within the organization and its affiliates; this includes communicating on different technical expertise levels where appropriate.


  • Experience with JSP, JavaScript, AJAX, JMS, JDBC, SQL.


  • Experience supporting web services (SOAP, REST, JSON).


  • Experience operating on an agile scrum team in a developer or support role.


  • Understanding and performance tuning experience working with relational DBs like Oracle, Sql Server.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Data Analytics, Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related degree.
