Job Description:

The Global Technology Chief Data Office at Prudential is seeking a Vice President, Product Delivery Lead & Data Science Product Owner. Reporting into the Chief Strategist, Data &Data Science, this highly visible role will join a fast-paced environment that is a key contributor to Prudential’s enterprise business and cultural transformation. The team is looking for a unique combination of skills: strong business acumen with a history of using data to solve business problems, deep Product Delivery and Agile methodology skills, ability to drive and own business relationships, a strategic and technical mindset as well as the ability to lead and grow a function of delivery leaders. 

The successful candidate will lead a team of Data Science Product Owners and Release Train Engineers, who will work to enable the global CDO Data Science Product teams to deploy solutions and deliver outcomes in a rapidly changing ecosystem. Initially, a successful candidate will lead delivery across a portfolio of the following services: Customer Engagement, Underwriting, Pricing, Service, Corporate Functions and Prudential’s International Insurance businesses.  

Responsibilities: 


  • Provides executive leadership and champions the CDO’s transformation to the New Ways of Working Product Delivery model and accountable for the CDO’s Data Science Product Delivery framework adoption and execution.  


  • Execute the responsibilities of Data Science Product Owner for one or more teams 


  • Lead a function of Data Science Product Owners and Release Train Engineers who will be allocated cross-functionally to design, develop, and implement advanced analytical solutions across the Prudential enterprise. 


  • Develop team, including hiring, coaching, training, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement and learning for all team members.  


  • Develops and grows relationships with senior executives in the business lines and across Global Technology to enable timely delivery of business initiatives that rely on CDO capabilities.  


  • Lead Data Science Product Chapter/Guild to mature product management across the CDO  


  • As a thought leader and advocate, drive knowledge and application of Prudential’s New Ways of Working Product Philosophy and Agile team methodology at all levels of Prudential. 


  • Develop pragmatic approaches to maturing the CDO’s Operating Model, Interaction model and ability to solve complex business problems with Data and Data Science.   


  • Leverage strong oral and written communication skills to drive business transformation and data science adoption.  Articulate continuous improvement opportunities to mature delivery and accelerate measurable outcomes clearly and persuasively to audiences at all levels of the organization. 


  • Advise Product teams on opportunities to improve end-to-end delivery lifecycle with effective and practical short- and long-term actionable solutions across the CDO. 


  • Mature the product delivery environment at Prudential by bringing new technologies and techniques to create efficient process around persistent delivery teams, cross-team collaboration, and laser focus on achievement of targeted business outcomes. 


  • Contribute to the transformation of the delivery culture at Prudential from a federated project-centric to an enterprise product-centric orientation, especially by improving the focus on being a data-driven organization. 


  • Initiate and manage strategic external partnerships to supplement internal product delivery capabilities. 


  • Monitor the CDO’s Product Delivery for risks, issues, inter-dependencies, and user experience to predict future risks and suggest mitigation strategies. Coordinate tracking with Global Technology Chief Operations Office 


  

Skills/Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor's degree required. Preference in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or PgMP certification preferred. 


  • 10+ years of Project/Program Management experience required 


  • 5+ years of practical experience managing Data Science initiatives 


  • Superior communication and persuasion skills; talent for storytelling, visualization and enhancing the adoption of Data & Data Science solutions 


  • Demonstrated experience building high performing teams that successful deliver expected outcomes 


  • Consultative nature, with a proven track record of using data to drive quantifiable business outcomes. 


  • Proven relationship building and collaboration skills; ability to influence and drive outcomes in large, matrixed and complex organizations.  


  • Strong Program Management skills with deep knowledge across Financial services, Data Science and Agile. 


  • Experience directing leaders of Agile teams with a concentration of data scientists and analytical professionals. 


  • Entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, and resilience; comfort with and ability to thrive on and drive change while navigating ambiguity. 


  • Knowledge of financial services or businesses with complex data, services, and distribution models especially in the areas of Retirement, Annuities, Group Insurance, and Life Insurance.
