Stride is seeking an experienced accountant who is driven to make a difference and is a key contributor to our finance team, helping the company reach its goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial statement preparation and review of Stride K12 managed schools. You must be an energetic team player who listens and values the opinions of others and a self-starter who effectively prioritizes and works well independently. Excellent written and oral communication and inter-personal skills are essential. You will be expected to quickly learn and understand processes, keep information highly organized, work efficiently, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.

 Essential Functions


  • Develop an in-depth understanding of financial accounting processes, compliance requirements, systems and reporting

  • Responsible for full-cycle accounting transactions, record keeping and preparation of monthly financials for multiple locations

  • Manage the month-end close process for multiple schools

  • Perform federal grant accounting and funding reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Audit and substantiate financial transactions and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger

  • Analyze the Balance Sheet and Income Statement for accuracy

  • Assist in SOX audit work to ensure corporate compliance

  • Prepare school audit schedules and support external auditors

  • Support special projects and ad hoc requests

  • Act as a liaison between schools, regional staff and corporate staff. 

  • Data Entry for transactional processing

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, finance, or related field

  • 5 + years of accounting, auditing or financial reporting experience

  • Experience with full-cycle accounting (AP, GL) and financial reporting

  • Advanced experience with Excel

  • Demonstrate knowledge of general ledger and ERP systems

  • Understand and demonstrate how to perform control checks in ensuring data integrity

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with NetSuite

  • Knowledge of Fund Accounting

  • Experience with ERP system implementation and data conversion

  • CPA preferred

  • Experience with RPA
