The Award Setup Specialist, reporting to the Financial Compliance Manager, is responsible for establishing sponsored project accounts in Temple's financial system, Banner.The individual will be responsible for interpreting sponsor terms and conditions, understanding the award budget, ensuring critical award attributes are captured in post-award systems, applying data definitions consistently, and adhering to predefined timelines.

The Award Setup Specialist's responsibilities include, interpreting external sponsor terms and conditions to determine the appropriate award attributes in Banner and other post-award systems, reviewing invoice and financial report requirements per the award letter and establishing corresponding deliverables in Temple's Electronic Research Administration system (ERA), serving as the main point of contact for account setup through written and verbal communication for Research Administration, Investigators, departments, Controller's Office, and other customers, reviewing and establishing requested advance spending accounts. Accounts will be evaluated every 90 days in collaboration with the post-award grants analyst, providing training and support for all post-award setup activities, reconciling award data between ERA and Banner on a quarterly basis, performing data quality assurances and initiating data cleanup efforts, as needed, ensuring all policies and procedures related to award setup remain accurate and up-to-date, Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least two years of research administration experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of research administration procedures and requirements

*Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft software, including Excel and Word.

*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

*Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population.

*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work within tight and often conflicting deadlines.

*Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented.

*Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving abilities; Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.

*Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team; Self-motivated.
