We are seeking a Central Pharmacist to:


  • Be a consistent presence in the pharmacy production areas to daily oversee medication distribution processes

  • Check patient orders and verify the five patient rights

  • Detect errors having potential to cause harm

  • Offer consultation services for the management of complex drug distribution questions

  • Work with various pieces of central automation and technology

  • Examples of automation and technology include robotic and carousel dispensing, decentralized automated dispensing systems, IV technology, robotic courier systems, intravenous infusion pumps and pharmacy information systems

  • Be well versed in the requirements of USP Chapter 797 and sterile compounding procedures

  • The critical nature of many of the products prepared in sterile compounding, such as total parenteral nutrition, epidurals, patient controlled analgesia, and chemotherapy require advanced standard operating procedures

  • Work with the technicians to help them understand their critical role in patient care and medication safety, to provide them with guidance, some supervision, and to help hold them accountable for their daily tasks and responsibilities

  • Participate in quality improvement, assurance and compliance systems pertinent to medication distribution.

Education:
Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or a PharmD degree.
Preferred – Completion of ASHP Accredited PGY1 Practice/Community and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency training program.

Work Experience:
Minimum – One (1) year of clinical patient care and orders management experience or completion of an ASHP Accredited Residency training program.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum – Licensed or eligble for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Wisconsin Certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or another applicable certification as directed by hiring manager (new employees required to become certified within 18 months of hire date or eligibility date).

  • Comfortable accepting responsibility for medium to large scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning many months from start to finish

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities

Physical Requirements:
Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, a mix of AM and PM shifts. Rotating weekends and designated holidays are required. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
