The Communications Manager is responsible for developing a variety of strategic marketing and communications content to be disseminated through internal and external distribution channels, with the goal of informing and promoting the Brandywine brand, its people, mission, and product offerings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Researches, writes, reviews and edits copy for marketing collateral and web-based media.

  2. Writes press releases and manages media relations/press opportunities.

  3. Executive speech writing, copywriting for corporate reports and presentations.

  4. Develops strategic communications plans, messaging, and positioning for internal and external projects and initiatives.

  5. Manages multiple social media channels; develops strategic content promoting brand, as well as, properties and unique product offerings.

  6. Maintains fact sheets / statistics on company and projects; responsible for updating website and other internal channels in a timely manner.

  7. Collaborates with cross-functional teams – from creative, IT and HR to product marketing and legal – to produce effective promotional materials

  8. Consistently keeps up to date on industry trends, research, and competitive analysis, recommending new ideas and innovative ways to promote brand and offerings.

  9. Researches and understands key business challenges, customer behavior, target audiences, competitive activity, and environmental factors that impacts programs within the business and assigned departments.

  10. Partner with marketing functions to analyze and evaluate market data; supports the development of marketing and messaging strategies that attracts customers and builds brand.

  11. Works with leadership to take the pulse of overall business activity to identify cross-marketing opportunities.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  1. EDUCATION:  Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Strategic Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant field

  2. Minimum 5 years of communications experience in a corporate or agency setting

  3. Strong, versatile copywriting skills

  4. Strong analytical and communication skills

  5. Strong time management and organizational skills

  6. Proven experience developing strategic communications materials that incorporates key messaging, positioning, and competitive differentiation.

  7. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint; and all types of social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)

  8. Experience with web content management systems, Hubspot, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Excel, and project management software a plus

  9. Must possess a sense of urgency—is self-motivated and detail-minded

  10. Must be a team player—willing to collaborate with group and assist with various projects (i.e. creative reviews, brainstorming, editing, etc.)

  11. Must have interpersonal skills—able to communicate and work with all lines of business throughout the company

  12. Other skills required: flexible and able to receive feedback, ability to prioritize as needed

  13. Must update job knowledge constantly (attend training, read industry publications, etc.) to keep up with evolving communications strategies and practices

  14. Potential travel and off-hours work—ability to work at off-site locations, particularly to meet with internal clients or firms hired for outsourced work
