The Decision Science and Analytics - People team is responsible for using Best Buy’s employee data to drive insights for our business partners. Our primary partners are the HR and Field teams, though our work touches all Best Buy employees.

As an Inclusion and Diversity Decision Scientist, you will provide measurement and analytic support to the Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) team in support of Best Buy’s commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse culture. You will also provide subject matter expertise and data-driven insights and solutions to HR and business leaders to support inclusion and diversity efforts.

What will you do?


  • Lead scoping sessions with the I&D team to understand business needs and problems; translate problems into testable hypotheses, perform analyses, and present findings and recommendations

  • Partner with the I&D team to develop measurement plans and track progress against I&D initiatives, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness and programs

  • Build predictive models to support and drive the company’s I&D initiatives and strategies

  • Collaborate on the development of reporting and dashboards to inform business leaders and HR partners of progress against I&D initiatives

  • Serve as the subject matter expert to support business leaders in understanding and applying I&D metrics and trends; Provide recommendations for improvements

  • Serve as an expert on internal and external I&D metrics and benchmarks that will improve data-driven decision making

  • Analyze HR processes to measure equity, identify root cause, and make recommendations for improvements

Basic Requirements (You must meet or exceed all basic requirements to be eligible)

  • Four year bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, the physical sciences, computer science, social sciences, or similar field with quantitative rigor

  • 3 years or more experience in retail, analytics, business, or related area

  • 2 years or more experience applying analytical techniques to answer business questions or scientific questions

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years or more experience in computer programming, SAS, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, and/or Power BI
