Accounts Payable Specialist at Better Community Living

Job Description:

35 hours per week- Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 4:00PM

Summary/Objective: The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the organization.  

Essential Functions

Responsibilities


  • Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.

  • Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.

  • Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.

  • Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.

  • Records entry of, verifies documentation for, and distributes petty cash. 

  • Calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices.

  • Process year end 1099’s

  • Must exercise reasonable and professional discretion and independent judgement with respect to Better Community Living’s personnel information, and must adhere at all times to BCL’s Written Information Security Program.

  • Other related duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Demands


  • This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

  • Occasional travel required.

Required Qualifications


  • High School Diploma required; Business or Accounting Degree preferred

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a current, valid, US driver’s license.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a CORI check and a Driving Record Check.

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations governing a DDS contracted agency preferred

  • Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification preferred

  • Blackbaud experience preferred

  • Proficient in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Suite

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
