Job Description:

The laboratory of Dr. B. Franklin Pugh, Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics, is seeking a laboratory technician to conduct molecular biology experiments. The Pugh lab has recently moved to Cornell, and is located in a newly built laboratory in the Biotechnology Building. The lab conducts state-of-the-art research in molecular biology and computational biology, with emphasis in eukaryotic gene regulation, transcription, epigenetics, epigenomics, tumor diagnostics, and high-throughput computer-aided analytic workflows. The Pugh lab aims to provide an inclusive and professional community for research scientists to work and learn in a supportive environment. The Lab Technician has the following responsibilities:
* Conduct molecular biology experiments according to established protocols, with supervision by the lab manager, and oversight by Dr. Pugh.
* Provide support for lab maintenance, ordering, and university compliance as directed by the lab manager.
* Promote a safe and inclusive work environment.

We seek a collaborative and enthusiastic individual who is willing to learn and work in a team environment.

This is a full-time, one year, term appointment with possibility of extension. This position is expected to work 100% on campus.

Required Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent, and 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must understand biochemistry, molecular biology, and genomic principles at a basic level. Candidate must have a demonstration of proficiency in molecular biology experimentation (e.g., excellence in relevant coursework or relevant work experience) Additional skills required include an ability to conduct routine assays, attention to detail, being a team player, and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
