Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in either Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Master's degree in any of these fields a plus.

  • Substantial manufacturing background, preferably in the automotive industry, with proven experience in manufacturing and production management, setup & cycle time reduction, OEE, labor efficiency improvement, continuous improvement and materials management.

  • Knowledge of and experience implementing smart manufacturing concepts such as interconnectivity, automation, machine learning, and real-time data (Industry 4.0) to marries physical production and operations with smart digital technology, machine learning, andbig datato have created more holistic and better-connected systems. Must be willing to join the plant's Industry 4.0 journey.

  • Possesses a strong understanding of lean manufacturing and world class manufacturing principles.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to include influencing, collaboration and building of strong, lasting relationships. Understanding of and ability to work in a matrix management organization.

  • Demonstrated & effective leadership style with a positive and proactive approach to management with the proven ability to build teams of top talent and foster a culture of high performance

  • Proven ability leveraging data to lead in a metrics-driven environment to hold team accountable to established metrics. Has created KPIs, and metrics for a company in a high growth environment.

  • Possesses and demonstrates strong project management skills through direct responsibility for projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with multiple levels and disciplines. Possesses and displays strong consulting skills, including the capability to quickly identify and develop improvement opportunities and build trust, confidence and credibility with customers, key OEM partners, individual contributors, line managers and leaders.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in balancing immediate and long-term priorities to meet critical objectives while considering the impact of those decisions on the ability to achieve goals.

  • Proven experience successfully articulating, inspiring and engaging commitment to a plan of action aligned with organizational mission and goals. Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to manage changing and competing priorities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for talent development and process improvement.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to translate complex concepts and problems into formal and written presentations. Dynamic presentation skills necessary to be able to confidently stand up in front of the organization and make impactful presentations to large groups of employees.

  • Must have advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. Experience and understanding of ERP (SAP desirable) & MES systems.

  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally for exchange and implementation of best practices.

Position Summary:

The Director, Manufacturing is a key member of the Plant Hamilton Leadership Team and responsible for all Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket (AM) production. Leading a team of operations professionals, maintenance, and manufacturing engineers and a dedicated operational excellence team, inspires collaboration and problem-solving amongst the team while delivering best practices and meeting or exceeding all performance metrics to include safety, quality, productivity, and profitability. Delivers on all production objectives through direct leadership of Production Unit Leaders (PULs) who take care of day-to-day operations for their respective units, ensuring quality and labor efficiency standards are upheld. Collaborates with support departments for success to include Engineering, Sales, Program Management, Purchasing, Logistics, Quality and Human Resources. Coaches managers and production teams providing clarity, detecting and resolving issues, installing a framework for continuous improvement and ensuring that teams have what they need to deliver with quality, autonomy and purpose. Requires a high degree of ownership, a growth-oriented mindset, a passion for enabling teams to succeed and a passion and vision for incorporating high-tech automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives into the production floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develops and executes strategies to improve asset and employee productivity and efficiency, including but not limited to streamlining workflows and material movement, reducing unproductive time, and optimizing equipment utilization.

  • Is responsible for all Original Equipment Manufacturing & Aftermarket production, ensuring each operation meets or exceeds their key performance indicators. Leads, develops and executes operational strategies incorporating lean principles to achieve plant KPI's while working in partnership with Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Logistics, Quality and Human Resources, program management, logistics, purchasing, finance, IT, sales, & human resources.

  • Supports continuous improvement in production through standard operating procedures, implementation of best practices and related training. Development & utilization of proper metrics for measuring performance in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost management, capacity management & operational efficiency and people performance.

  • Develops and builds strong high-performing, cross functional teams at all levels while partnering with leadership and other business functions.

  • Exceeds customer expectations in quality, cost, delivery, service, and project launches all while collaborating with cross functional teams to win and implement new business.

  • Coaches and develops staff through individual development plans that ensure succession planning for all levels of the plant. Increases the level of technical knowledge of core business processes to develop key talent.

  • Drives and sustains a culture of safety throughout while supporting environmental, health and safety policies.

  • Develops and maintains operating staff, establishes performance standards, evaluates performance, ensures adherence to Company policies/procedures and recommends opportunities for employee development.

  • Leads implementation of reporting systems and procedures to monitor and control the flow of throughput throughout the operations process. Interact with customers, vendors, and sales representatives, as necessary, to resolve problems and to promote the company mission.

  • Works with Production Unit Leaders and Finance to develop budgets, driving strategies to reduce costs and achieve financial targets.

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
