 Job Summary

As the Regional Transportation Manager, you will lead a team of Transportation Managers, manage a fleet of vehicles, and coordinate the safe delivery of finished glass to customers in the South Central Region. You are responsible for overseeing and managing all transportation matters for Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE) across three locations in Texas and Oklahoma.  The role can be based in either Dallas or Houston.

As part of the Regional Leadership Team, the Regional Transportation Manager leads, directs and works closely with the local Transportation Managers at multiple manufacturing sites to coordinate the safe delivery of finished glass to customers in the region. The manager is responsible for regulatory DOT compliance, monitoring transportation costs, shipping and delivery of finished products via our fleet or 3rd party carriers and providing strategies for continuous improvement.

Here’s What You’ll Get to Do:

• The Regional Transportation Manager reports to the Regional Operations Director and provides leadership and direction to the Transportation Managers of the manufacturing sites within the assigned territory.


• Manages across assigned manufacturing sites to align and maximize Safety, Quality, Productivity, House Keeping and Preventative Maintenance


• Ensures all OSHA and other regulatory compliance is maintained


• Builds competent leadership teams in each location and supports them through employee development


• Researches and implements transportation best practices


• Breaks down annual/monthly goals into meaningful metrics for each plant, and holds team members accountable for achieving desired results


• Leads asset planning to balance demand at lowest cost and highest service levels


• Drives continuous improvement


• Coach and mentor Transportation Managers to boost efficiencies, control costs, and maximize fleet capabilities


• Collaborate with regional leaders to achieve collective goals


• Facilitate accurate reporting of safety and compliance items related to our fleet


• Utilize Smart Drive and XRS software to help coach, teach and mentor our teams on safe and efficient operation of our fleet

 

Here’s What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience


• 5+ years of experience in Transportation Management


• Proven ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically as well as maintain relationships as they change over time


• Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast paced, stressful, dynamic and changing work environment


• Ability to travel up to 50%


• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills


• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
