Motorola Solutions cloud infrastructure offerings are expanding and we are looking for Systems and DevOps Engineers to join our team. The Cloud Infrastructure team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions' Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission-critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Gov. Cloud Computing infrastructure to build at scale. The Cloud Infrastructure team is responsible for: Development and operation of common platform services that can be leveraged by our SaaS solutions; Overall reliability and security of these services and the cloud environments; Monitoring, alerting, and support for these platform and infrastructure services; Developer enablement with metrics collection and reporting
As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will be a key contributor to our operational support and development activities. This team is developing frameworks, services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions' engineering teams as well as deliver solutions to our customers. You will be working on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for cloud platform operational support, automation, deployment processes, and enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions' Software Enterprise organization.
Responsibilities will include:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
5+ years of combined experience in Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and Security Engineering
Experience with web infrastructure and distributed systems; Background on services and cloud computing (Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services) a plus
Experience with one or more of the following strongly preferred: Layer 2/3 Networking design and management; Kubernetes cluster design and management.
Familiarity with Public Safety system a plus
Solid skills in at least one common scripting language
Build quality scalable, tested and reliable applications using industry best practices
Have expertise in at least one of the following: Performance analysis and capacity planning, Continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), Azure/AWS public cloud services,
Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving, growing and agile environment
Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences.
Self motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
