As the Quality Manager, you would lead strategic ISO quality control and manage a quality team to influence the business toward a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement. Building on and improving current practices will be a key objective in this role and improved metrics will be the evidence of the ability to influence and make change for continued business success.  As an integral member of the Plant Leadership Team, this employee will support and advise site management with ISO and AAR compliances, policy changes, and procedural updates. Working closely with sales, operations and customers, this employee will also be responsible for eliminating, preventing, and/or reducing the occurrence of quality issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                     


  • Responsible for meeting quality assurance objectives.

  • Lead the Operations team to best identify and resolve quality issues.

  • Ensure the site is prepared for, and in compliance with, AAR and ISO 9001:20115

  • Ensure compliance with ASTM, customer, and company standards

  • Lead continuous improvement across the organization by conducting analyses, identifying critical control points, and implementing preventative measure.

  • Validate quality processes by tracking and documenting quality metrics.

  • Communicate metrics in cross-functional organizational meetings.

  • Act as a liaison between sales and production regarding quality specifications.

  • Mentor associates to drive a culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement.

  • Investigate and address customer complaints regarding quality in a timely fashion.

  • Determine and lead recommendations for corrective measures and ensure they are implemented. 

  • Lead and/or participate in internal and external audits.

  • Facilitate RCCA activities

  • Provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures as it pertains to the audit.

  • Ensure plant awareness in compliance with ISO 9001: 2015 ,  customer, plant and AAR standards.

  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented to close all internal/external findings.

  • Lead/delegate layered audit activities within the manufacturing facility.

  • Lead and mentor a team of Quality Technicians and Quality Auditor to ensure the quality department delivers on goals and objectives.

  • Provide coaching and feedback to enhance team strengths and overcome areas for development.

  • Provide daily reporting to the Plant Manager

  • Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Technical or business degree required;

  • 3-5 years years of ISO auditing experience preferred.

  • Strong skill set in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.  

  • Strong mathematical, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) preferred.

  • Ability to effectively write reports, present information and respond to questions for groups of managers, clients, and customers required.

  • Experience with investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action as well as auditing and monitoring required.

  • Team oriented and able to deal with a wide variety of personalities and cultures.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manger demands.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:


  • Ability to read and use a wide range of measurement equipment such as micrometers, calipers, tensile testers, steel rulers, elcometers, torque wrenches, hardness testers, gauge blocks, refractometers, melt index testers, slip tester, spectrophotometer, prolonged tension and creep testing, brittleness testing, fibrillation tester, abrasion tester, strap machine adjustment and setup, and SPC. 


  •  Laptop/Computer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Able to lift at least 40lbs. periodically.

  • Able to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.

  • Light manufacturing conditions. 

  • Steel toed boots, safety eyewear, and long pants required. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures in the warehouse environment.

  • Travel may be required about 15-20% of the time.
