Title: Part-Time Student-Facilities Engineering-Waterloo IA- 72522

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule.

Your Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve existingtools and processes.
• Assists team in coordinating work with outside contractors to complete construction activities related to the manufacturing space
• Assist team with documentation retention and storage
• Gather, review, and analyze information related to construction drawings using John Deere best practices and standards
• Capacity to lead small construction projects
• Support group with administrative work creating purchase requisitions and shipping orders
• Produces a variety of correspondence and reports in support of department needs.
• Learn and apply company engineering policies and best practices
• Work throughout the facility including the factory shop floor, stairwells, ladders and areas with limited access

What Skills You Need

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Constuction Management, Manufacturing Technology; others may apply
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university (Hawkeye, UNI, Wartburg, etc)
• Graduation date of May 2022 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
• 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
• 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester

What Makes You Stand Out

• Understanding of construction process as it relates to running electrical and mechanical utilities
• Understanding of construction process as it relates to structural steel installations and demolitions
• Understanding of construction process as it relates to concrete finishing
• Good interpersonal communication
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Familiarity with engineering tools (AutoCAD, Creo)
