Job Summary

The Zendesk Growth and Monetization Buying Experience team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer. You will be a key technical partner across all areas of the engineering lifecycle, including gathering requirements from stakeholders, defining experiences with product management and UX designers, and building features to provide a beautifully simple and secure buying experience for our customers across the Zendesk family of products. You'll work on interesting challenges in all aspects of the buying experience; subscription management, purchasing, and trial conversion.

What you'll be doing

  • Working across organizational boundaries to integrate services and workflows with a focus on releasing with quality and observability.
  • Partnering with Zendesk architects to stay abreast of issues affecting the Zendesk platform and bring back the best practices from Zendesk engineering in order to drive decisions for the team.
  • Closely working with Growth & Monetization engineering leadership to identify and implement strategies to help the team continuously improve.
  • Applying best practices to satisfy our priorities of code excellence and high availability software.
  • Providing mentoring and coaching to other engineers on the team on technical decision making and technical design.



What you bring to the role:
Required:

  • Previous experience in maintaining and developing complex Ruby on Rails applications and services in a large-scale distributed environment.
  • A proven track record of implementing strategies for re-architecting monolithic applications into domain specific services using technologies including: HTTP, JSON, XML, and RESTful web services).
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases, such as MySQL or Aurora.
  • A customer-first mentality with the ability to work independently yet fully collaborate with worldwide, remote teams.
