Position: Logistics Support Associate - Bulk Packaging Trainee

Reports To: Logistics Supervisor

Position Summary:Perform duties required to safely load and unload bulk materials, which are normally transported in drums, totes, cylinders and tanker trucks. Maintain the bulk inventory in a manner which will prevent environmental and/or equipment contamination and reflect accurate inventory values in SAP. Train to become Bulk Packaging Specialist responsible for larger containers and specifically tanker trucks.Demonstrate commitment to working safely and supporting the site safety, environmental and quality objectives.

Qualifications:


  • Physically able to roll full 55-gallon drums, lift 50 pound bags, climb long vertical ladders, move heavy equipment with and without the assistance of a fork truck and have the ability to manuever capablyin cramped quarters.

  • Meet the physical requirements necessary to wear task specific PPE in a chemical manufacturing environment such as FR and chemical resistant garmentsand a full-face respirator.

  • Ability to read, understand and apply all documentation related to site and material handling safety.

  • Willingness to learn and demonstrate safety and regulatory requirements of handling and transporting hazardous materials.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent level of education. Above average reading comprension and good basic math skills.

  • Preference given to candidates with prior experience in chemical manufacturing.

  • Preference given to candidates with prior experience with tanker trucks.

  • Preference given to candidates with Emergency Response experience.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Become familiar with and understand all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), relevant ISO 9000 Standards, ESHM's, Equipment Operation Procedures (EOPs) and Company Policies that are applicable to the Bulk Packaging Clerk's position.

2. Become an Emergency Response Team Member within the first 3 months of employment, with minimum participation level of "Support Specialist." Maintain skills through Company provided training.

3. Successfully complete the Safe Forklift Operation Training Program within the firstmonth of employment.

4. Complete registration and training for Hazardous Materials Transportation certification within 9 months of accepting this position.

5. Become familiar with and thoroughly understand the proper care and use of all personal protective equipment needed for safe chemical processing operations (i.e., respirators, hardhats, safety glasses, gloves, acid suits, etc) and to use these in daily tasks as required.

6. Learn and safely demonstrate how to load, unload and transfer all bulk materials from storage tanks and tankers as directed by supervisors and procedures. This includes flammables, corrosives, and dangerous when wet materials. Associate must also acquire in-depth knowledge of tank farm equipment and auxiliary equipment.

7. Learn and safely demonstrate proper drum handling techniques while moving full 55-gallon drums on and off pallets, using lift-assist equipment as needed.

8. Learn and safely demonstrate proper cylinder handling techniques while transferring cylinders from one location to another as directed by supervisors.

9. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others. Associate must be able to coordinate activities with other departments which includes prioritization of production equipment such as scrubbers. Associate must coordinate with maintenance for ensuring equipment is in proper working order as well as for coordination of special setups based on changes in tanker configurations.

10. Demonstrate the ability to listen to supervisors and follow both verbal and written instructions. The ability to receive and accept constructive feedback is required to ensure safe and productive operations.

11. Maintain documentation as required, including loading and unloading checklists.

12. Ensure good housekeeping procedures are maintained.

13. Maintain an adequate supply of containers and materials on the plant site as required by departmental procedures.

14. Maintain all unloading stations and ensure they are kept in a safe operation condition.

15. Maintain bulk unloading hose inventory and ensure the hose change-out program is implemented.

16. Ensure that all shipments comply with regulations and carrier requirements.

17. Bulk Packaging Clerks must have regular, predictable attendance.

18. Be familiar with and comply with established Quality Policy.

19. Manage and schedule carriers for loading and unloading as needed to meet production or customer needs.

20. Must be proficient in transactions in SAP related to assigned tasks as part of role.

21. Perform other routine duties as required to ensure a safe and reliable shipping and receiving operation.
