DescriptionThis position will learn through training to set-up, operate, maintain, and basic adjustments / repair automated manufacturing equipment and all associated equipment. The employee in this position will receive on-the-job and class room training specific to Automated Systems Technician (AST) activities to:  support all automated equipment related to their area, complete routine preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repair activities in specific equipment of responsibility. This position must have a general mechanical aptitude and demonstrate a willingness to learn, participate, and show continuing education in both hands-on and schooling to continue growth within the AST positions if desired. Responsibilities


  • Set-up and operate all automated manufacturing systems and associated equipment.
  • Calculate and adjust process and equipment to meet and maintain specifications and tolerances.
  • Conduct analysis and perform proper procedures to adjust machines to control defects.
  • Perform routine repair activities using specific repair and maintenance techniques and practices. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks identified as AST 1 level PM’s.
  • Work well and communicate effectively with co-workers other ASTs and Supervision.
  • Perform general and detailed housekeeping to keep their equipment in area of responsibility clean.
  • Assist area AST’s to maintain troubleshoot, repair or upgrade equipment.
  • Maintain logs and records of work performed, materials and equipment used.
  • Help in identification, specification, and requisition equipment parts.

This position works in a manufacturing plant environment, with exposure to noise, vibration, oils, lubricants, and other chemicals.

Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of three years manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum one-year experience in maintenance/repair/set-up/ machine operator
  • Post high school technical training in the following areas is a plus:  electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics.
  • Test score of 55 on NOCTI test, Mechatronics.

 Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees, foster teamwork and support team-building as demonstrated in the soft skills evaluation.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability operate standard and powered hand tools, precision measuring devices and gauges, material handling equipment, and personal computer.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position. Employees in this classification will be randomly screened under the InSinkErator Substance Abuse policy. Candidates will be evaluated using the safety evaluation assessment.
