Job Summary

Description: Writes, produces, broadcasts Atlanta traffic reports and information for the 95.5 WSB Traffic Team on radio, on digital and social media, occasionally on WSB-TV, and occasionally on CMG Atlanta music stations.

Responsibilities: Gather traffic information via phone, DOT, traffic cameras, maps, 911 scanners, and social media for distribution with WSB Traffic Team and production on digital and social media. Broadcast said information in clear, time-friendly reports as part of WSB's Triple Team Traffic coverage or solo traffic shifts on 95.5FM, potentially as weekend/off-camera fill-in on WSB-TV, and potentially on B98.5FM, KISS 104.1FM, and 97.1 The River. Must have strong familiarity with social media to disseminate traffic info on multiple Twitter accounts, WSBRadio.com Traffic Page, and the WSB Radio App. Must have strong ability to multi-task both info-gathering/traffic producing and publish information in the broadcast and digital realms. Needs familiarity with news gathering process and be willing to collaborate with other Cox Media Group team members on gathering traffic-related news stories. Needs to be open to coaching and feedback from station management to achieve station's goals of increasing engagement and customer base. WSB may request employee to make community service or station-led appearances. Schedule is mainly for work during primary traffic shifts, including, but not limited to shifts during afternoon drive (3 p.m.-7:30 p.m.), weekday mornings (4 a.m.-9 a.m.), midday shifts (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), overnights (7:30pm - 4am), and weekends (6 a.m.-3 p.m.). Schedule may require work on holidays or in other non-specified hours.

What we look for

Qualifications: Must have passion and enthusiasm for serving the public and helping the 95.5 WSB Traffic Team achieve and surpass its goals to provide the best product. Must have multiple years on-air experience, preferably in a news or traffic format. Must be able to provide resume of past applicable experience and demo of either past on-air work or recorded reports. Must either have been a traffic reporter in Atlanta or another market or must have at least moderate knowledge the Atlanta road system. Employee must bring computer skills (email, internet, social media) and be able to perform utmost customer service to parties we call, who call us, who work with us, and who visit the 95.5 WSB Traffic Center.
