We are looking for a self-motivated and results-oriented Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. In this position, you will be responsible for financial leadership and support controls and technical expertise that will drive performance and ensure strategic objectives are met. The ideal candidate will be experienced with Federal, state and/or local statutes and guidelines and technically proficient with system applications, policies and procedures.
Top candidates will be skilled at business and financial acumen and possess strong analytical and planning skills. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral communications in order to develop and maintain cross-functional work relationships at all levels of the organization. This role will have direct reports and perform as a key partner to the Director of Accounting and Chief Financial Officer for the Authority with management of all financial services.

Day-to-Day Activities:
Understand all elements of the Statement of Revenues, Expenses, and Changes in Net Position; Statement of Net Position; Statement of Cash Flows; and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR); to enable meaningful review and to help identify, prioritize and drive improvements
Remain technically current with accounting pronouncements and be the Authority’s US GAAP and GASB technical resource
Supervise and develop/mentor staff, as well as establish and implement long and short-range departmental goals
Manage debt to assure compliance with ordinance, covenants, and statutory laws and work with bond counsel to plan, organize, and direct capital financing, bond refunding and issuance of new debt
Direct all general ledger activity, including journal entries and reconciliations; prepare periodic, monthly, and annual close processes
Coordinate accounting activity to assist the Finance Department in developing and calculating rates, charges, fees, and cost allocations relative to billings and other projects
Monitor fiscal activities and ensure that RDU is compliant with all local and state statutes or ordinances, federal laws and regulations, generally accepted accounting principles, debt covenants, and other compliance issues as it relate to accounting
Participate on cross-functional teams and build organizational relationships with peers and operating partners
Proactively lead projects related to process improvement and efficiencies
Complete research and special projects
Knowledge of:
GAAP and GASB
Federal, state, and/or local statutes and guidelines
MS office applications: Word, Advanced Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Oracle release 12

$90,665.92 - $110,027.85
