This role is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance and upgrades for the company's databases and applications. They provide technical expertise in the use of database technology and are responsible for the overall performance of the database and application environment. Work is performed in conjunction with analysts, developers and system engineers to define and resolve information flow and data requirements. They assist in the transformation of business requirements into environment specific databases, database applications, and application maintenance including support, maintenance and system implementations. This role has a solid working knowledge of database administration methodologies and best business practices to maintain a healthy database and application environment; a good understanding of logical and physical database design principles. They work well in a team environment and need to be flexible when working on priorities that may shift from time to time. Attention to detail and strong communication and collaboration skills are critical to the success of this role.
Education: Associates degree in Information Technology or Business, or equivalent professional experience and relevant training
Experience: 8 years or more experience with application development or database administration in a SQL environment.

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday; However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs. On call periodic as scheduled.
Supports multiple databases and applications of high complexity (size, system feeds, interfaces) with multiple concurrent users; ensures control, integrity, health, backup and recovery capabilities.
Works on multiple projects as a team member or as the technical lead or advisor.
Plans and organizes database and application activity regarding performance monitoring, reliability, tuning, security, backup and disaster recovery, ensuring alignment with business requirements and best business practices.
Works with analysts to translate logical data models into physical database designs, develops physical databases and applications, ensure information flows are appropriate to meet business requirements.
Designs, codes, edits, installs and verifies stored procedures and functions for accessing, maintaining, and populating databases.
Participates in system upgrade projects as the technical database lead; produces metrics and samples that are required for the success of the project; ensures database compatibility with upgraded systems, is responsible for data migration for testing and upgrade to production; follows change management procedures.
Demonstrate experience with enterprise application integrations or middleware technologies like Web Services, XML/JSON/XXLT, Java, .Net, or other industry-standard middleware.
Monitors alerts and takes appropriate actions; performs routine maintenance tasks for databases such as backups and patch management; performs health checks based on check lists, makes recommendations for remediation or additional checks to perform.
Maintains development, production and multiple testing environments as needed to support operational needs.
Forecasts utilization patterns and recommends modifications or upgrades.
Evaluates data access and reporting tools and techniques and makes recommendations.
Monitors and maintains database security, integrity and access controls; provides audit trails to detect potential security violations and makes recommendations to improve security.
PowerShell and batch scripting.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
