The Ohio Legislative Service Commission (LSC) is a state agency that performs nonpartisan central staff functions for the Ohio state legislature. Job Duties
Type, format, team proofread, and process bills, text inserts, and amendments in customized software;
Type, format, team proofread, and process cover letters in MS Word;
Apply styles and insert codes to set appropriate formatting;
Ensure that proper bill drafting rules have been applied;
Monitor assignment database to facilitate prompt turn-around of bills, amendments, and letters;
Enter and check data as needed;
Staff the bill preparation area on a rotating basis during scheduled night work and at other times when night work is required;
Maintain established area procedures and update and maintain procedures notebook;
Provide customer service to LSC staff, answering inquiries and assisting staff as needed; and
Other similar duties as assigned.
Unusual Working Conditions
Required to maintain availability to work seasonal scheduled and, at times, unscheduled overtime including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED);
Accurate keyboarding (typing) speed of at least 65 wpm;
Proficiency with MS Office, particularly MS Word, and personal computers;
Six months training or experience in general office practices;
Excellent grammatical, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading skills;
Well-developed problem solving skills;
Effective communication and mediation skills;
Availability to work overtime, both scheduled and unscheduled and, at times, on short notice; and
