Job Description

As a member of one of our Technology teams, you will contribute to building solutions that use natural language processing, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence applications or the frameworks and infrastructure that support them.

Release engineers are responsible for assessing the risks of deploying new software and safely managing that deployment. They manage the configurations of all client-facing applications, and work with software engineers/testers to resolve any issues where documentation of the software or configuration are lacking details. They also manage a repository of information which outlines where all client-facing software is deployed for either Production or release testing.

Essential Job Functions:

• Enforce and Adhere to deployment process guidelines and procedures.




• Perform as technical liaison for Developers, Testers, and Project Management on every aspect associated with software releases.




• Modify, maintain and install tools and scripts for supporting software product release.




• Communicate with project teams to identify apt deployment schedule.




• Collaborate with other team members to coordinate software deployments and implement process improvements.




• Organize all software components and associated configurations for a given deployment.




• Identify and correct deployment errors by working with development engineers and testers.




• Perform post release validation.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Launch and install new clients or new components in new or existing environments.




• Respond constantly and aggressively to automated or manual tests of deployment issues.




• Track and execute impromptu configuration changes requested by the project team.




• Strong reasoning skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.




• Develop tools and documentation for automating manual workflows in the deployment process.




• Maintain and manage close interpersonal and professional work relations with internal clients and peers.




• Perform after-hours software releases when necessary.




• Participate in on-call rotation

Required

• Proficient with Windows or Mac laptop




• 3+ years experience in build/release engineering and configuration management with solid knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle




• Proficient with Subversion code repository




• Skilled in command line environment (Bash)

Preferred

• Comfortable with Python or similar languages




• Experience with PostgreSQL




• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience




• Proficient with Linux or Unix based OS systems using common UNIX/Linux tools (ssh, tar, sed, grep, awk, vi, emacs, cron, etc...)
