If you are a Strategic Sourcing professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our St. Louis, MO location, you will oversee development and execution of Supply Chain strategy for direct material purchases which may include raw material, electronic components, manufactured products, fabricated parts, buyouts, equipment or other operating supplies.  This responsibility includes providing functional oversight for Commodity Mangers, Regional Sourcing Managers and Sourcing Specialist assigned to a respective category of purchases.   

The Manager – Strategic Sourcing, North America will report directly to the Global Procurement Director and maintain a very close working relationship with Emerson Corporate and Business Group Supply Chain personnel for respective categories.  

This position is part of the Procurement Department. Primary responsibility is to provide functional management for Business Unit Procurement resources executing supply chain strategies in key categories of direct materials purchases.  Results will set in place an effective supply chain that that supports the Business Units operational goals for customer satisfaction, operational excellence through Perfect Execution and financial performance.

AS A STRATEGIC SOURCING MANAGER OF NORTH AMERICA, YOU WILL: 

  • Provide functional and administrative leadership to assigned personnel for a specific category of direct material purchases.  This will include developing and executing a sourcing strategy designed to achieve defined supply chain objectives.  This will include the preparation and presentation of periodic management and executive reviews as required.
  • Approve the selection of Suppliers for contract awards and approve the final provisions and language negotiated for associated Supply Agreements.  This includes authorization and assessment of ESourcing activities and final analysis of best total cost objectives.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators ensuring all assigned category sourcing strategies meet or exceed the minimum operational performance requirements.
  • Manage the strategic business relationship with key preferred suppliers for assigned categories including periodic business performance reviews.
  • Represent Procurement in the development and administration of key business processes and systems utilized in supply chain management ensuring the functionality and outputs support the effectiveness in sourcing strategies.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in supply chain management, purchasing, supplier evaluation and negotiating
  • Demonstrated leadership and management ability by way of experience with management or team leadership of a large scope project, cross-functional team or prior management position
  • Proven communication and organizational skills enabling collaboration, teamwork, and consensus building
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experienced in contract administration
  • Analytical skills are necessary in the study of data from numerous sources for developing relevant and actionable information and reports
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
  • Legal work authorization in the United States

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • MBA
  • Excellent computer skills with online applications and systems and utilization of Microsoft Office software tools: Word, Excel, Power Point and Project
  • Proven knowledge and experience in financial and economic evaluations

Schedule

We offer the flexibility of a core hour work schedule.  Employees can flex their start and stop times given they are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm.  Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers.
