Job Summary

The staff editor for emerging content will work closely with the managing editor to help identify and cover emerging areas of content, such as personal finance, tech, new kinds of celebrities like youtubers and tik-tok stars and many others, which are as yet to be identified. The staff editor will also support smaller verticals with known growth potential, like sports, pets and parents, by contributing ideas, writing, reporting and editing help. This will be a writing-heavy position, but a level of strategic thinking and ability to self-publish is required in order to make sure we're making investments in those emerging areas with the biggest traffic potential.

Essential Job Functions

• Writing for verticals that have shown strong growth like sports, pets and parents.




• Collaborating with the managing editor, vertical editors and audience growth team to identify areas of content that justify experimentation, and strategizing how to execute.




• Offering editing help to high-growth verticals.




• Generating content, self publishing as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

• BA

Experience:

• 5 years min.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Digital news writing skills, great line editing skills, a deep knowledge of the celebrity news landscape, an eye for excellent human interest stories, ability to work well with many people across job functions, knowledge of analytics, SEO and audience engagement
