Job Description:

First PREMIER Bank is looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team!  The Assistant Controller will be responsible for  internal and external financial reporting, Rent-a-Bin (BIN) relationship monitoring, accounting policy development and implementation, internal control structure evaluation applicable to financial reporting, general ledger control and risk management and certain financial operational activities.  Under the direction of the VP-Controller, this position manages the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, by performing administrative duties as well as process and control development departmental and company wide.

Compensation and Schedule

Starting wage is determined based on prior work experiences.

Full-time Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Training Schedule:

Paid on-the-job training!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • GAAP and Regulatory reporting for Bank and affiliates

  • Control of month end closing activities including evaluation and review of the adequacy of financial statements and related accruals

  • Budgeting, forecasting and capacity planning for core Bank related activities

  • Cash flow evaluation based on input from asset/liability and bank operational activities

  • Rent A BIN relationship management

  • Evaluate the adequacy of company policies related to the Bank’s financial statement preparation

  • Review processes and controls surrounding financial reporting and implement changes as required to minimize risk

  • Staff management and development including work plans, performance reviews, salary increases, training and career development.

Skills and Qualifications



  • Must possess basic understanding of banking system as well as basic understanding of credit card financial and operational activities. 




  • Combination of education/experience that would enable incumbent to meet essential functions and required competencies of the position. 




  • Preferred minimum requirements include a four-year degree in accounting, CPA preferred and public accounting audit experience a plus; and five (5) or more years practical business experience in researching and implementing accounting and regulatory policy and managing financial reporting processes.




  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.




  • Proficient with a variety of existing computer applications with an ability to adapt to change and quickly become proficient in their use. 




  • Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills. 




  • Ability to handle stress, exercise self-control, adhere to company policies and procedures and uphold the PREMIER Way.



  • Conduct tasks in a manner that complies with all consumer protection regulations and treats consumers fairly.
