JOB SUMMARY



Work closely with Process Engineers and Manufacturing to support and improve manufacturing operations, including trouble shooting equipment and process issues, performing and documenting fixtures and equipment maintenance, and updating process documentation.  Assists Process Engineers/Maintenance with projects through building or procuring test equipment and performing testing, including process verification.



JOB RESPONSIBLITIES




  • Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and recommend solutions to Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Develop, assemble, procure, or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.

  • Assist the Process with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods and procedures, including writing change orders and deviations.

  • Assists with hands on training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment, and process revisions.

  • Schedule, complete, and document routine maintenance on applicable manufacturing and test equipment.

  • Read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets, and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, check out and trouble-shoot equipment.

  • Assist in failure analysis, trouble shooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause.

  • Perform tests, gather data, and write results/reports with assistance from Process Engineering, utilizing various types of electro-mechanical equipment.

  • Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing

  • Installs and validates equipment and process in the production area to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time following the established validation procedure.

  • Supports periodic volume increases through testing of production product following applicable processes and procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS




  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES




  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on a schedule.

  • Follow Process Engineers direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers.

  • PLC experience and understanding of Ladder Logic preferred.

  • Basic understanding and ability to read prints and schematics.

  • Background in practical electronics, electrical test equipment and trouble shooting.

  • Ability to develop and execute a detailed test plan.

  • Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and efficient management of time and resources.



PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB




  • Prior experience in highly automated manufacturing operations

  • Ability to use and understand general test equipment including DVM, torque wrenches, force gages

  • Experience with ASRS, AGC’s & Robots (ABB preferred)

  • Experience with Weld controllers for laser, friction, mag-arc & Mig welding

  • Ability to trouble shoot PLC’s (Allen Bradley/Siemens) and HMI’s

  • Production experience with M.E.S

  • Must be able to work off shifts
