WFTS, The E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Tampa, is looking for a creative, motivated, and organized Segment Producer to work with our anchor team to create compelling, in-depth content. The Producer will focus on working with the News Anchors to develop story ideas, research, conduct interviews, create compelling visuals, and craft scripts. There will also be opportunities for field producing. The ideal candidate is creative in story idea generation and showcasing. They are skilled in collaboration and managing several projects at once.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Develop and organize newscast or local program segments; responsible for writing, story development and showcasing.




• Collaborates with reporters, anchors, news managers and assignment editors to determine content needs.




• Enhance the content with compelling graphics, video, research, and station branding. Experience with Photoshop strongly preferred.




• Execute time sensitive decisions.




• Responsible for oversight of live broadcast and up to the minute editorial decisions.




• Perform desktop editing. Experience with Final Cut Pro preferred.




• Posting content to station's Web sites.




• Perform other duties as assigned and needed.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field.




• 3 years of experience as a television news producer.

• Avid local news consumer: knows daily news, events, trends and happenings on a local level.

• Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws and strong editorial judgement.




• Able to use web analytics.




• Proficient with newsroom computer systems, MS Office a plus.
