Spec Engineering is seeking an impact player and difference maker to join our team as a Process Engineer. This self-driven engineer should be able to manage several tasks simultaneously and have the capability to react quickly to a fast-paced environment. Spec Engineering is a privately held, fast growing, and stable full-service process engineering firm with our main office located in Plainfield Il, and a second location in Chicago. We provide the latest in technology to manufacturers in the food, beverage, and specialty chemical industries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Produce effective system designs by using understanding of engineering and industry experience while leveraging vendors and external resources.

  • Engage and maintain relationships with customer and vendors throughout the project cycle.

  • Review drawings produced by engineering and drafting for accuracy and adherence to specifications.

  • Work with engineering regarding model accuracy, design, and drafting standards and design documentation.

  • Work closely with designers, drafters, and engineering to ensure coordination of design effort is maintained.

  • Support and contribute to engineering department effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.

  • Maintain all revisions of project drawings.

  • Provide timely technical assistance and solutions to the team.

  • Participate in project meetings, and conference call as required.

  • Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal.

  • Support sales to develop concepts for projects.

  • Design and improve systems, products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.

  • Provides leadership on a project team consisting of junior engineering, design engineering, controls engineer, outside contractors, vendors, and whop personnel.

  • Works with other members of the engineering staff and other departments to ensure that production if completed in a timely manner.

  • Coordinates project from start to finish.

  • Travels on-site for project status meetings or t oversee installation of projects.

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Performs a variety of tasks as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:



  • Two-year or four-year degree program.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in both AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

  • Experience in a fabrication environment is preferred.
