dormakaba is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join the Lexington, KY engineering team. This position will be responsible for leading activities for system design and assisting in the development of access control systems and commercial locksets in the New Product Development Engineering group.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Develops system-level component and application requirements for products to optimize performance
Writes software and hardware requirements, specifications, and detailed design documents
Works with test engineering to write and review system test requirements
Trains fellow engineers on systems engineering principles, customer requirements (assessment of feasibility of outside engineering requests)
Works with and coordinates outside agencies for the design, development and testing of new and existing products including writing SoWs for external development partners
Coordinates performance of regulatory conformance testing for FCC and UL requirements
Stays current with emerging technologies and development tools
Manages project tasks and conducts engineering design activities as required

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with Python language related to automated testing preferred
Experience with wireless and RF protocols/designs and networked systems preferred
Must possess a good working knowledge of electronics technologies and equipment
Knowledge of schematic layout and circuit analysis for electronic designs
Understanding of QFD, DFM, DFA, DFT, FMEA, RCA
Understanding of Design for Six Sigma principles
Experience with Microprocessors selection/capabilities
Experience with battery-operated consumer devices preferred
B.S. in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering Technology
10+ years of product development experience
Specific experience in a software design or systems design role for embedded microcontroller-based systems required
Experience writing requirements for hardware designs preferred
Specific experience writing requirements for firmware for embedded microcontroller designs
Specific experience writing requirements for PC software designs
Specific experience with FCC and UL requirements analysis preferred
