Education Coordinator, EMS, Full Time, Varies at UT Health East

Job Description:

Works somewhat independently to initiate, coordinate and teach the various State and nationally approved EMS related initial and on-going training opportunities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prompt and regular attendance at work.

  • Effectively follow all UT Health East Texas EMS policies, procedures, guidelines and chain of command.

  • Maintain all required certifications according to company policy.

  • Conduct self in a highly ethical and professional manner projecting a positive company image while maintaining a neat and professional appearance at all times in accordance with company policies.

  • Maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative working relationship with physicians, nurses, public safety agencies, the general public, allied health professionals, and other members of our EMS system.


  • Tests and grades students on achievement in class.

  • Teaches continuing education classes for all EMS personnel.

  • Conducts workshops and demonstrations to teach such skills related emergency medical services

  • Teaches basic courses in ITLS / PHTLS, PALS / PEPP, ACLS etc. all related to emergency medical services.


Education:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Be at a minimum a Certified or Licensed Paramedic recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

  • Working knowledge of English grammar; spelling and usage is required.

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

  • Pediatric Education for pre-hospital Professional (PEPP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

  • Texas DSHS certification as EMT Paramedic

  • National Registry or Texas DSHS Licensed Paramedic/Equivalent Associates Degree.

  • Must be at least 20 years of age

  • Possess and maintain current Texas motor vehicle operator's license and meet all company requirements according to policy.

Experience:

  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret education related material. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures as they relate to teaching certain topics within the EMS curriculum.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the use of audio-visual equipment.

SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILTIIES:


  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and resolving problems.

  • Coordinates instructors and examiners used in the provision of educational opportunities.
